Police on New York's Long Island say one person has been killed and nine others injured in a bus crash. The crash Tuesday morning involved a Suffolk County Transit bus carrying 14 passengers. The passengers and the bus driver were taken to hospitals. The driver of the other vehicle was killed.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. in Northampton. Suffolk County spokesman Mark Smith says officials believe the driver of the other vehicle ran a stop sign and hit the side of the bus. Police are investigating.

The rural area of Long Island is about 75 miles east of Manhattan.
