Daughter accused in murder for hire plot appears in court

HOUSTON Prosecutors say Ashley Shamp's mother, Catherine, asked Ashley's ex-boyfriend to kill her husband, David. Investigators say she wanted her husband killed during a home invasion and even talked with Ashley's ex-boyfriend about paying him from the insurance money.

On Monday morning in court, a judge ordered Ashley not to have any contact with her mother. Ashley's stepfather attended Monday morning's hearing and says he supports her. He claims she's just being dragged into a mess her mother created. He also posted Ashley's bond last week.

Catherine Shamp remains in jail and is due in court next month.
