Inmate electrocuted at Huntsville prison

HUNTSVILLE, TX According to TDCJ, the inmate, Todd Hughes, 39, was working with an inmate maintenance crew on a broken water line when he was electrocuted, apparently by an adjacent electrical line, at about 3pm. Hughes was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A second inmate was treated in the unit's infirmary.

Hughes was serving a seven year sentence for intoxication manslaughter out of Orange County. He was received by TDCJ on July 3, 2007.

TDCJ's Office of Inspector General is investigating the accident.
