Shots ring out at party packed with teens

HOUSTON It happened inside the Reign Banquet Hall on Veterans Memorial late last night. About 200 to 300 kids between the ages of 12 and 20 were at the party. Authorities say around midnight, two guys got into a fight. One pulled out a gun and shot the other in the wrist.

Deputies who working security at the party chased the shooter. They fired their weapons, but the suspect did get away. Neither deputy hit anyone.

In the meantime, Harris County deputies sealed off the banquet hall parking lot and wouldn't let any kids leave the premise. Many of those kids had to call their parents.

Some parents who came up waited for up to three hours to take their kids home.

"I was upset with him of course, because he didn't make curfew," said parent Stacy Coleman. "So I asked him what was going on and he said he thought somebody had got in a fight and the police had kind of barricaded them all in."

The young man who was shot was taken to an area hospital. The shooter remains at large.
