Tornadoes swirl through heartland

MINNEAPOLIS, MN Yesterday's storms left behind shattered windows, fallen power lines and a handful of injuries.

At least a half-dozen suspected tornadoes have been reported. Those include a possible tornado near downtown Minneapolis, where winds tore off part of a 90-year-old church steeple.

Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois were also hit. But so far the only confirmed tornado was about 30 miles southeast of Minneapolis. There, a 100-yard-long swath of trees was flattened.

One expert calls the weather the kind that meteorologists dread: it didn't look dangerous until it was.

Officials say six people have been sent to hospitals for storm-related injuries aftrer possible tornadoes touched down in central Illinois.
