Family members say King suffered from dementia, and they had grown concerned she would become confused while driving.
Doris' husband, William, describes their last conversation before she went missing.
"She said, 'Give me my keys.' And I said, 'Baby, you don't need to leave,'" said William.
Doris continued to argue with William outside their Indian Shores home in Crosby. She eventually got the keys to their car and took off.
"I blame myself now for giving her the keys. I shouldn't have done it, but that's hindsight," said William. "And she's always come back before."
William tried to follow her that night, but lost sight of her car in the Crosby area. That was last Thursday night, August 6.
"I could see her being out there and if she sleeps or something, she may wake up and not realize where she is," said Doris' son, Cliff Haddox.
Deputies have reportedly confirmed the body is that of King. Authorities say it appears she died of natural causes.
