Two female elephants hit it off at Dallas Zoo

DALLAS, TX Jenny the elephant has a new roommate. Her name is Gypsy and so far the two ladies seem to be getting along. Jenny has been alone since last year when her old roommate died of heart failure. Gypsy arrived at the zoo in March, but she's been under quarantine. Zoo staff say you can never be sure what will happen when you introduce animals, but in Jenny and Gypsy's case, it's so far, so good.

"They trumpeted, they touched each other with their trunks. Gypsy showed various behaviors indicating that when they developed their hierarchy, she's willing to let Jenny be the boss," said Chuck Sigel of the Dallas Zoo.

Jenny is 34, while Gypsy is a younger woman at just 27. Next spring, they'll move to a new, ten-acre exhibit for African animals at the Dallas Zoo.
