When deputies arrived at the scene, they searched the home and discovered Goerta's body in a bedroom closet. She appeared to have been shot multiple times.
"A weapon was recovered inside the house and the husband was transported to the homicide division, where he's being questioned," said Sgt. Ben Beal with the Harris County Sheriff's Department homicide unit.
Deputies say they also found a small amount of narcotics at the scene. They arrested Collins without incident. He's now in the Harris County Jail with murder charges pending.
At this point, investigators don't have a motive in the shooting.
