Cy-Fair keeps homestead exemption

HOUSTON The school board voted against revoking the district's homestead exemption. The board members decided against pay raises for the district and instead decided to lay off 75 workers.

The district has to overcome a $288 million budget shortfall and the district said removing the homestead exemption would have given them $35 million.
