Man allegedly kidnapped due to brothers' theft

WESLACO, TX Isidro Rodriguez was taken captive Sunday night after his two younger brothers allegedly stole a large amount of cash from an unidentified Mexican drug trafficking organization.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino told The McAllen Monitor that two men in a Range Rover SUV went to Rodriguez's property, north of Weslaco, and one of them pointed a gun at the 38-year-old and demanded he get in the vehicle.

Seven of Rodriguez's relatives said they witnessed the kidnapping.

The sheriff said Mexican authorities had gotten one telephone call from Rodriguez's captors demanding his brothers turn over the stolen money.
