Everyone in the car was thrown from the vehicle. The Roadster was an open-topped vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle were apparently not wearing safety belts.
The scene investigation and witness accounts indicated the vehicle had just left a parking lot car show in front of Incredible Pizza located in the 200 block of South Loop 336 West. According to police, the vehicle was traveling westbound and apparently accelerated rapidly exceeding the posted speed limit of 40 mph. The Roadster apparently lost traction and slid sideways into a center esplanade and flipped approximately one and one-half times before ejecting the occupants and landing on its side.
The vehicle was occupied by two teenage girls and two female adults. The adults were the mother and grandmother of one of the juveniles. The driver of the vehicle and grandmother, Daredeth Perry Ward, 45, was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Occupant and mother, Amy Ward, 33, was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious injuries. Amy Ward's 15-year-old daughter was transported to Hermann Hospital in Houston with critical injuries.
A 16-year-old occupant and friend of the family was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center, treated with minor injuries and released.
