"A lot of people are going to get stuck and I am sure really upset," said driver Stephanie Hoang, who works near Uptown.
Construction equipment is already at that busy intersection.
"There is a lot of traffic here on a daily basis," said Hoang.
And it's poised to inflict a painful weekend on drivers and businesses nearby.
"It's going to be painful for everybody because if you are on San Felipe and Sage, you have to go through a neighborhood, so it's going to be a bit of a hassle for people in Tanglewilde," said Mariana Bringas, who also works near Uptown.
It does seem like Houston is perpetually under construction. Crews had the option of completing this work over six weekends, but this is likely a less painful option overall, according to John Breeding of the Uptown Houston district.
"Just talking to the residents and the major businesses in the area, they say let's have a tough weekend, but let's get it done in one weekend, rather than stretching it out," he said.
After four days of round the clock construction, Post Oak at San Felipe is set to be three lanes each way with a turn lane.
"Just be patient over one tough weekend and we'll have you back to work Monday morning," said Breeding.
