One person shot during police standoff

ALVIN, TX All of this began when police got a call from an out-of-state person saying that they needed to check on the welfare of a person living at an apartment complex on North 8th near West Sealy.

When investigators arrived, they say the man they were checking on started firing at them. A resident ran out of his apartment and the suspect started shooting again, hitting that resident.

Four hours went by before police were able to convince the armed man to come out of the apartment. They also used tear gas during the standoff.

The resident who was shot is said to be OK. No officers were injured in the incident. The suspect's identity hasn't been released.
