Murphy was also known as 'Arnie the Peanut Dude.' You may have heard his cries or seen him tossing bags of peanuts at Minute Maid Park, and years earlier at the Astrodome. He was a legend among vendors, appearing in All-Star games and even in the pages of People magazine.
According to a statement from his employer, Aramark, Murphy "passed away in his chair while recovering from a stem cell transplant needed to help his failing heart."
The Astros and their fans honored Murphy with a moment of silence before the national anthem of Wednesday night's game versus the Brewers.
