Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced plans for $240 million that was set aside in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. A project to increase the height of the railroad bridge next to the Galveston causeway is included in that money.
The railroad bridge has a low clearance, and several boats have been damaged in accidents.
