Shot fired during Bellaire bank robbery

BELLAIRE, TX Around 9:30am, Bellaire police were called to the Guaranty Bank on Bellaire Boulevard for an reported aggravated robbery in progress. It had been reported that multiple suspects, including one armed with a machine gun, were robbing the bank.

Officers arrived at the bank as the suspects were fleeing the building and getting into a vehicle. After a short chase, three suspects were taken into custody without further incident. According to Bellaire police, an HKS 7.62mm rifle with bayonet and a .357 magnum handgun were recovered during the arrest, as well as property and funds stolen during the robbery.

During the robbery one of the suspects fired a shot from the rifle inside the bank. No one was injured by the gunshot. A customer inside the bank at the time of the robbery received injuries when she was assaulted and robbed of her personal possessions by one of the suspets. EMS personnel treated this victim at the scene.

Officers plan to file aggravated robbery charges on the three suspects in custody. The suspects are being investigated for possible connection to other area robberies.
