HPD car, school damaged during chase

A short police chase near a southeast Houston elementary school ended with the driver ramming into a police car and plowing through a fence. [SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]

An HPD officer followed the stolen car after the driver refused to pull over. When he got to a dead end, he hit reverse and slammed into the cop's car twice.

He then drove through the fence at Lewis Elementary and drove across the school grounds before he and the three other men bailed out and ran on foot.

The driver and two others were eventually caught. One suspect got away.
