HOUSTON --
A family of three managed to escape an early morning apartment fire in north Houston.[SIGN UP: Get headlines and breaking news sent to you]Firefighters believe it started when the mother laid a shirt over a lamp shade at the Vista Villa apartments on East Tidwell near Rita. Firefighters put out the flames before they spread to another unit.
However, two other units did receive smoke and water damage. No one was hurt.
