Former Harris Co. commissioner to be laid to rest

HOUSTON Jim Fonteno died last week following a battle with Parkinson's disease. Fonteno was appointed Commissioner of the Houston Port Authority in 1970. Four years later, he was elected as Commissioner of Precinct Two and served in that position for nearly three decades.

Funeral services were scheduled at the Second Baptist Church in Kingwood.
