Mom gets 20 years for allowing son's abuse

HOUSTON Today a judge gave Geneva Foster the maximum sentence. She pleaded guilty to injury to a child by omission. Foster claimed she was afraid to report the abuse, because her husband would beat her. But the judge felt she had plenty of chances to get help, and chose not to.

Earlier this week, the boy's stepfather, Michael Ryan, pleaded guilty and agreed to a 35 year sentence. He's accused of beating, starving and torturing his stepson for more than three years.
