13th anniversary of Selena's death

HOUSTON The 23-year-old singer was shot by the president of her fan club on March 31st, 1995. Yolanda Saldivar was arrested, convicted and is now serving life in a Texas prison. She will be eligible for parole in 2025.

Selena was born in Lake Jackson and moved to Corpus Christi with her family in 1981. Selena's death left a vacuum in the Tejano music scene, but her style is still inspiring artists today, including Paula Deanda and Beyonce.

Selena's statue and museum in Corpus Christi is still visited by hundreds of fans every week.
