Spears and estate placed under temporary conservatorship

A Los Angeles court commissioner is placing Britney Spears and her estate under temporary conservatorship. The arrangement is created for people deemed incapable of taking care of themselves of their finances.

It's not clear who would be Spears' conservator. Spears' parents appeared in a Los Angeles court earlier today for a hearing, a day after their daughter was taken to a psychiatric hospital.

Commissioner Reva Goetz says Spears would be under conservatorship until Monday, when another hearing will be held.

The ruling gives the conservator power to "restrict visitors," have around-the-clock security for Spears, and have access to all medical records.

The conservator also has the ability to "take all actions to secure" Spears' liquid assets, including credit cards.
