Houston Texans announce 2014 preseason schedule

HOUSTON

The schedule includes home games against the NFC runner-up San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons. Here's the schedule:

Week 1: At Arizona Cardinals
Week 2: Atlanta Falcons
Week 3: At Denver Broncos
Week 4: San Francisco 49ers

The exact dates and times have not yet been determined, but all four games will air on ABC-13/KTRK-TV.

This is the first season for head coach Bill O'Brien. Former head coach Gary Kubiak was fired before the end of last season.

Houston will open the preseason at Arizona for the second time in franchise history. The Texans met the Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium to start the 2010 preseason and posted a 33-20 win in their only other preseason visit to Glendale, on August 18, 2007.

Atlanta and Houston will meet for the first time ever in the preseason. The teams have only met three times in the regular season, with Houston posting a 17-10 win at home on Dec. 4, 2011 in their last matchup.

The Texans and Broncos will square off against one another in the preseason for the first time since 2008. Denver has claimed four of the five previous preseason matchups.

Houston has won both of its preseason games with San Francisco: 30-7 on the road in 2011 and 20-9 at home in 2012.
