Woman pulled from vehicle that went into Lake Houston

HOUSTON

It happened at around 9am at the Duessen Park boat ramp. Witnesses fishing near the water's edge saw the car go off the boat ramp.

"They looked just in time to see a person in the vehicle go off into the water," said an HPD sergeant on the scene.

According to HFD officials, it was around 35 minutes between the time the vehicle, a maroon Kia four-door, went into the water and when they got the woman in her 50s out.

They do say there was enough space in the vehicle for her to be breathing.

She was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

Officials with the Harris County Sheriff's Office have called the dive team for a secondary search in case there was a second person in the vehicle. The sergeant on scene says he's never seen an outcome like this one in 30 years in law enforcement, calling it a good day.

The woman appeared dazed, but was able to answer the questions they were asking her.
