Intruders burst into a southwest Houston home overnight and beat up the homeowner to steal his wallet, police said.

It happened around midnight at a home in the 8100 block of South Braeswood at Braes View. Police say the two suspects are still on the run after assaulting the man who lives there.

Officers said there was a family event at the home. After everyone left, two men smashed the front window of the house and went inside.

The homeowner reportedly confronted the suspects. That's when they started assaulting him.

They allegedly took the man's wallet and left him with a gash on his head.

Police recovered a couple of credit cards in the alley behind the home, where the suspects ran. Investigators think they had a car waiting back there.

They're asking anyone with information about the suspects to call police.
