Boy accused of setting fire at Northwest Mall, 2 other locations

HOUSTON

Houston Fire Department officials say one person was treated for smoke inhalation following the blaze Wednesday afternoon at Northwest Mall, which was evacuated.

Store surveillance video shows a boy moving near a clothing display area in the Palais Royal store, then leaving as smoke and fire were detected.

Investigators had a general description of the boy, who was caught after fire calls in two other nearby businesses - a restaurant and a convenience store. Officials say the boy confessed to all three fires.

The name of the minor was not released. Further details on the charges were not immediately available.

No damage estimates were released on the three fires.
