Authorities say 47-year-old Jonathan King Lennard was the bike rider who was killed Monday night in the 6700 block of Memorial Drive.
Witnesses said Lennard was crossing the street when, for whatever reason, he turned around and was struck by an oncoming car. He died at the scene.
On Facebook, friends described how smart and fun-loving Lennard was and how much he'll be missed. They plan on painting a ghost bike and placing it near the site of his death.
Lennard's funeral is Friday afternoon. If people wish, his family is asking they donate to bikehouston.org in his name.
No charges have been filed against the 25-year-old driver of the car involved in the wreck.
