Detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Pearland.

Pearland Police Department officers were dispatched around 7:30pm Friday to a home in the 900 block of Maple Branch near Breezy Point after someone reported hearing two gunshots during a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found a husband and wife dead on the front porch of the house. Officials said a gun was found at the scene.

Authorities believe the double shooting was a murder-suicide. Neighbors told police the couple had been arguing in the front yard. When the woman turned to go inside the house, the man reportedly shot her with a handgun and then turned the weapon on himself, police said.

"The male reportedly fired a gun at the female, struck her and then turned the gun on himself. Both subjects died here at the scene. We did recover a weapon," PPD Lt. Onesimo Lopez said. "At this point it looks like it was some kind of a domestic disturbance."

Their names have not been released, but we're told the man was in his late 60s and the woman was in her late 30s.

No one else was at the home at the time. This case remains under investigation.
