A Houston-area man has been arrested and charged with beating his pregnant girlfriend and trying to throw a boat anchor at her in the parking lot of a suburban Houston Popeyes.

The suspect was arrested a few hours after the early Friday morning incident when he tried to visit his 20-year-old girlfriend at a local hospital. The suspect and the victim have not been identified. The mother and baby are stable.

Popeyes employee Tre' Gunier says the woman is a manager at the restaurant.

He says the boyfriend pulled her by her hair and hit her. Gunier says the man tried to attack her with a boat anchor. He missed and the anchor hit the restaurant's front door, shattering the glass.
