Man outside NE Houston gas station struck, killed by truck

A man filling up his car's tires with air at a northeast Houston gas station was struck and killed by a truck Tuesday afternoon.

At least one person is dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in northeast Houston.

It happened near Aldine Mail Route and the Eastex Freeway.

Authorities say a the driver of a speeding pickup truck, exited off the freeway, veered into the right lane of the feeder road then lost control. The truck jumped a median, a curb and hit several poles before going through a Shell gas station parking lot and hitting a man who was pumping air into his tires. The man was instantly killed.

Authorities say three teens were inside the pickup truck, but none of them were hurt. The driver was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with a DUI.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
