Burglary suspect in custody after leading police on high-speed chase

HOUSTON

According to police, the original crime happened Wednesday afternoon when the suspect walked into the garage of a Bellaire home in the 4400 block of Basswood and stole some sporting equipment. The homeowner saw the suspect fleeing the scene and was able to give a description to Bellaire police.

Then shortly before 9am Thursday, a Bellaire police officer was on patrol and spotted a suspect driving an SUV that matched the description of the burglar. The suspect fled.

Police chased the suspect northbound on Highway 59 then into the Montrose area where officers briefly lost sight of the suspect. Police then pursued him on I-45 north.

The suspect eventually pulled over at the I-45 feed near E. Little York, where he exited the vehicle and surrendered to police.

The driver was the lone suspect in the chase. No one was injured.

Bellaire police say some of the stolen equipment was still in the suspect's vehicle.
