The NWS says an EF-1 tornado touched down east of Shepherd. It touched down shortly after 2pm and was on the ground for about three minutes. Winds inside the 30-yard wide tornado were estimated to be between 95 and 105 miles per hour.
The NWS, along with the San Jacinto County Fire Marshal's Office, toured the area affected by the twister and found a large barn that had been destroyed and partial roof loss to a brick home. They report there was also extensive damage to the front door and garage of the home and trees uprooted.
The residents who live in the damaged home weren't there at the time. A witness reported seeing the tornado move across the area and took shelter.
No injuries were reported.
