A jury in San Antonio on Tuesday night sentenced Sarah Sifuentes. Prosecutors say 22-month-old Cyleste Gonzales died in October 2008 after suffering an internal abdominal injury.
Jurors on Friday convicted Sifuentes of injury to a child by omission causing serious bodily injury. Her husband, Mark Andrew Valdez, awaits trial on the same charge.
Authorities say Sifuentes had been caring for the girl while the child's mother was in prison in a drug case.
