HOUSTON

At around 11:40pm on March 11, 2011, Houston police say the victim, 22-year-old Reginald Williams, was visiting with friends in his apartment in the 2700 block of Briargrove when two suspects knocked on the door and forced their way inside. One suspect held the occupants of the apartment at gunpoint while the second suspect began to search the apartment. During the robbery, Williams attempted to flee the apartment by jumping out a window and was shot. The suspects then fled the scene.

Williams was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Further investigation led to the identities of the suspects as Christopher Lamont Penn, 40, and Anthony Wayne Smith, 37. Both are charged with capital murder.

Investigators say they arrested Smith on April 16 and Penn on April 23 without incident.
