Baby hit by rock in NE Harris County, teens charged

HOUSTON

It happened around 4:40pm at a home in the 9400 block of Belleclaire Lane.

According to the Harris County Precinct 3 Constable's Office, a realtor was showing the house to a family. As they were walking around the house, a rock was thrown through the window and hit a nine-month-old baby in the mother's arms, officials said.

Investigators originally told us a brick was thrown, but clarified Sunday night that it was a large rock.

Deputies said a 13-year-old boy threw the rock, thinking the house was empty and wanting to get inside.

The infant was rushed to Northeast Regional Hospital. At last check, the child was stable.

The father and realtor held the 13-year-old until deputies arrived. He is being charged with injury to a child.

Authorities searched the juvenile and found copper in his backpack. Further investigation into the contents of the backpack led deputies to a 16-year-old boy. Officials said the older teen will be charged with theft.
