Rodeo parade strolls through downtown Houston

HOUSTON

Houston Texans football players Andre Johnson and JJ Watt were the grand marshals of this year's parade.

They joined the horses, cowboys, marching bands and floats going through downtown this morning.

Saturday was also the last day of the barbecue contest at Reliant.

More than 300 teams took part in the event. Organizers believe more than a quarter of a million people wandered through the cookoff over the course of three days.

The Conoco Phillips Rodeo Run also happened Saturday.

It was a record-breaking year. Organizers say more than 15,000 people participated.

This is the race's 25th anniversary, and organizers celebrated with a costume contest and post-race party with live music.

The Rodeo Run has raised nearly $3 million for youth scholarships since the first race.
