The accident happened at about 6:30pm on Mason Road near Interstate 10. Irene Bourgeois, 78, was crossing Mason when she was struck by a dark colored truck, possibly a green Ford F-150.
After striking the victim, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid, and fled the scene heading southbound on South Mason. Bourgeois was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A witness reported the suspect's vehicle had old damage to the rear of the vehicle and had a 'BROWNING' sticker on the back window.
