Police investigate fatal shooting on south side

A man was shot to death on Houston's south side overnight, and investigators are still trying to figure out all the details surrounding the shooting.

It happened around 1am Saturday at Missionary Village Apartments in the 4000 block of Corder St. near Scott.

Police have identified the victim as 28-year-old Donald Griffon.

Homicide detectives say Griffon and the suspect were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the complex. That's when police say the suspect pulled out a gun,

There was an exchange of gunfire and Griffon was shot in the chest and killed.

Police have not released the name of the suspect. They are speaking to witnesses at police headquarters.

According to officials, neither Griffon nor the shooter was a resident at the complex, but police said the victim had family who lives there.
