Houston area Fourth of July events

HOUSTON We compiled a list of some of the shows that will or won't be happening.

At Eleanor Tinsley Park near downtown Houston, preparations are underway for Freedom Over Texas -- Houston's official Fourth of July celebration. And the fireworks show will go on.

Missouri City's fireworks display is also still slated to happen, as are those in Pasadena, Baytown, Deer Park, Galveston, Kingwood, Spring, Pearland, Friendswood, Sugar Land and Katy.

However, concerns over the extreme drought conditions mean some organizers are canceling. That's what is happening in The Woodlands and in Rosenberg.

In Tomball, people celebrating the Fourth of July will watch the Freedom Over Texas fireworks on a big screen.

This is by no means a complete list. We will be updating and adding to it as we continue to gather information from municipalities in our viewing area.

We also have a list of where personal fireworks sale and use are banned.

Below is a complied list of some July 4th festival locations around the Houston area.

Country music artists Jack Ingram, Chris Young and Rodney Atkins will perform at the annual event held from 4 to 10pm on Monday, July 4, culminating with a spectacular fireworks show that will light up the downtown skyline.

Admission to the event is FREE with the donation of one canned food item per person for the Houston Food Bank. In conjunction with the Fourth of July festivities, the State of Texas celebrates its 175th anniversary this year.
