HOUSTON --Detectives are searching for the driver behind the wheel of a car that struck and killed a man trying to cross a highway in north Houston last month. Detectives say Nestor Argueta was struck shortly after 6:30am on March 13, according to a Crime Stoppers press release. Detectives say he'd just gotten into a single-car wreck and was walking southbound across Highway 249 when a Dodge Charger hit him. The driver of the Charger slowed down, but then fled eastbound on the highway toward the North Freeway. A witness at the scene couldn't give police a suspect description or a plate number. Argueta was transported to a hospital, where was placed on life support and eventually died. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver who fled the scene is asked to contact Crime stoppers at 713-222-8477.
