Fire at Bahamas shantytown leaves 700 homeless

NASSAU, Bahamas Authorities say no one died and that the majority of victims are Haitian migrants.

It is unclear what caused Wednesday's fire, although Fire Chief Superintendent Jeffrey Deleveaux said he is not ruling out arson.

Dozens of aid workers are struggling Thursday to register the victims, and the government promises it will not detain illegal immigrants affected by the fire.

Crews have erected large tents and portable toilets at a nearby church in southwest New Providence, near the capital of Nassau.
