TX company to drill for gas at PPG's W.Va. site

HOUSTON The Intelligencer reports that PPG expects to earn $50 million over the lifetime of the project, which could last about 30 years.

Houston-based Gastar Exploration plans to begin drilling in the fall on about 3,300 acres that PPG owns near its plant in Natrium.

Gastar has existing leases in Marshall and Wetzel counties.

President and CEO J. Russell Porter says the PPG lease will help the company create a large and mostly contiguous block of acreage within the rich Marcellus Shale natural gas reserve.
