Deputy indicted on cocaine trafficking charges

HOUSTON We first told you about the case against Deputy Richard Nutt in December. He and four others are charged with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine. Department of Justice officials say Houston police were tipped off that law enforcement officers were detaining suspected drug traffickers, then stealing the cocaine and letting them go.

Nutt and the four others were arrested in a sting. If convicted, he could get anywhere from five to 40 years in prison.

Nutt, 43, was out of jail after a judge lowered his bond last month.
