Man arrested trying to retrieve stolen items from police

FRIENDSWOOD, TX Jonathan Robert McMinn of Bayview was arrested Wednesday on a theft warrant issued as the result of a Friendswood investigation. McMinn, 25, was stopped for a traffic violation on September 7, 2010. During the stop, officers noticed several electronic items in his vehicle. McMinn was arrested for driving while license invalid and the property stored at the Friendswood Police Department for safekeeping.

A review of the property led police to believe that the property did not belong to McMinn and the subsequent investigation led to the location of property owners in Sugar Land, College Station, and League City. The victims told police that the items had been stolen or were thought to be lost.

A warrant for McMinn's arrest was issued on December 13, 2010. He was arrested January 5 when he came to the Friendswood Police Department to retrieve "his property".

McMinn's bond is set at $5,000. He will be transferred to the Galveston County Jail.

His criminal history lists several arrests and convictions for theft and burglary.
