The shooting happened after an unknown suspect and the driver of the vehicle Flores was riding in got into a verbal altercation while stopped at the red light at North Shepherd and Crosstimbers.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, medium complexion, thin build (about 140 pounds), with corn rows in his hair and diamond stud earrings in each ear. He was driving in a silver or gray Buick, possibly a Le Sabre, late 1990s model with tinted windows and a paper plate with unknown numbers.
