Report: Former NV governor dies after fall from roof

LAS VEGAS, NV

Law enforcement, school and hospital officials tell The Associated Press that Guinn died Thursday morning at University Medical Center in Las Vegas after falling from the roof of his home.

Those officials say they could not be identified because they were not authorized to speak pending an announcement from the Clark County coroner.

Las Vegas police officer Bill Cassell says police responded about 11 a.m. to a report that a man had been injured in a fall at Guinn's home, and the man was transported to UMC. Guinn was a Republican who served as governor from 1998 to 2007. He was a former superintendent of the Clark County School District in Las Vegas.
