Fatal crash causes power outage in SE Houston

HOUSTON The accident happened along the feeder road of the Gulf Freeway near Airport Boulevard. On Saturday night around 10:30pm a Cadillac ran off the road and smashed in a utility pole, splitting it in half. The driver was killed. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

CenterPoint Energy says the accident knocked power out to about 1,000 customers including the nearby Marriott Hotel. The hotel was hosting a high school prom when the power went out.
