Routine traffic stop turns into chase

Houston police chased after a woman for more than half an hour all across the city this morning. The chase started on the South Belt and ended just after 4:30am right off the West Loop at Memorial.

Authorities say the officer originally pulled over the driver for going through a couple of stop signs. She stopped at Almeda-Genoa near Monroe and apparently gave her license to the officer, but then took off.

She went up the Beltway to the Gulf Freeway, then onto the 610 Loop. The chase came to an end on the frontage road of 610 at Memorial.

No one was injured during the chase. Authorities aren't sure why the driver took off. She was taken into custody without incident.
