Temple seeks to relocate bats at football stadium

TEMPLE, TX The Temple school district has mailed letters to people who live near the the high school and Wildcat Stadium about bat "exclusion" plans.

The district last fall announced it would work with Bat Conservation International of Austin to get thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats to abandon the football stadium.

The Temple Daily Telegram reported Thursday that the bats are the same kind found beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge in Austin.

The TISD letter says the "bat-proofing and exclusion process at Wildcat Stadium" will include filling holes and cracks where the bats have lived.

The school district also is installing two bat houses on property north of Temple High School, for sites capable of being home to several thousand bats.
