Early voting begins today

HOUSTON Harris County has nearly 40 polling places to cast your ballot early. The battle for Houston mayor is the premier race in this year's election. And four of the candidates looking to replace term limited bill white are encouraging everyone to get out and vote.

"If you care about the future of Houston, you should care enough to show up and vote," said candidate Annise Parker.

"You always want to have the citizens of the city making the determination on who is going to lead the city and so we are always encouraging a high turnout," added candidate Gene Locke.

Chris Brown with the Peter Brown campaign said, "We've been working hard to get people ID'ed and right now, we're just trying to get people to the polls."

"This is an opportunity for people to really make changes this time," said candidate Roy Morales.

In addition to the mayor's race, there are city council races and 11 state constitutional amendments on the ballot. Early voting ends October 30. Find your early voting location.
